Our Winery

Ledgewood Creek Winery is located an hour northeast of San Francisco in the Suisun Valley. The area just escapes the Bay Area's lingering summertime fog. Our vineyards enjoy a unique blend of generous daytime sun and cool afternoon breezes out of the nearby San Pablo and Grizzly Bays. The unique combination of moderate daytime temperatures, cool nights, and rich valley soils provide the ideal climate for the growing of premium quality wine grapes.
The large variety of plantings within our vineyards gives us a huge advantage when producing Chardonnay. Each year we pick from the best lots to make wine. It is the patience and dedication to the details of blending that make the wine so fine. Barrel fermentation, type of oak used and the employment of malolactic fermentation are essential tools in our winemaking process.
After the grapes are picked and brought into the winery, consulting winemaker Larry Langbehn takes over and the magic begins. Carefully arranging his profile palate of flavors, aromas, acids, and tannins, Larry determines which lots are best for each label. With complete authority over barrel regime, he begins by using a selection of new and seasoned barrels. His flavor palate is ever-expanding with new aromas, textures, acids, and tannin levels. With all of these elements before him, he can then perform blending to produce the perfectly balanced wines that are Ledgewood Creek.
In the fall of 2002, Ledgewood Creek Winery released its first wines from the 2001 harvest. Ledgewood first opened out of the back of the winery while waiting for the tasting room to be finished at the front.
